November 11, 2004 || The Edge of Reason

Yes! I watched it! I laughed [alot], I sobbed [a little] and I swooned [like you wouldn't believe].
I watched it with Carla...who must've been annoyed with all the pinching and punching I did everytime Colin Firth came on screen!
The movie was...
I can't explain. I loved it, yes. Because if I didn't say that, then it would seem that all the months of waiting was a complete waste of time. I wasn't really suprised...except at the end...and I'm soooo glad I managed to stay away from spoilers on the ending.
I was disappointed a little.
Bridget was...I don't know...dumber than usual? I mean, in the book [and I really shouldn't compare, but one can't help themselves when it comes to these things], she's bright, klutzy yes, but she's not a complete idiot, like she was potrayed like in the films, but I admit, they were cringe-good moments. You really feel for her so I guess they serve their purpose.
Her wardrobe was ghastly! In that gold dress? She looked like an over-stuffed banana! I know Bridget is meant to be frumpier...but compared to the first movie, she was alot chubbier.
And the whole lesbian thing...it was plain stupid. It made Bridget seem like an even bigger arse. It was pointless and ridiculous.
Mark Darcy...as gorgeous as he was, he was an arrogant arse, but he more than made up for it. It's expected of him...and I love him for it.
Daniel Cleaver...a sleazy cad if ever I saw one, but he played his part to perfection...
My favourite line? Daniel's..."If you love her so much, why don't you marry her?...Then she'll shag me"
The fight scene was definetly my favourite...they're bloody fantastic and funny! And who can refrain from screaming when it comes to Colin Firth....WET!!!!!
There were alot more tear-jerk, "my-heart-hurts" moments in this movie than the first. Which I wasn't too fond of, but it's expected in a relationship like Mark and Bridget's, and it did lead to some great lovey-dovey stuff. Esp. with the whole thai prison scene.
Overall, it was a great day out. Colin Firth is an F*N GOD! I was in HEAT through the whole thing! Now I can't wait for the DVDs...with all the deleted scenes I'm sure they'll have!
Muah! Kat!
